Hey there! *wave*
I am thrilled that you found your way to my blog! My name is Julia Abeln, a 25-year-old from Germany. Last year, I quit my job to travel the world. I created this place as a way for people – friends, family and strangers alike – to follow my journey and virtually accompany me. I’d love to inspire every one of you to be more curious and leave your comfort zone once in a while to chase those dreams you have, no matter how big or small they might be – because that is exactly what I’m doing! 🙂
I live my life believing in some basic principles, e.g. ‘If you want to be happy, then be’, meaning that you alone are responsible for creating a life you truly enjoy. It also implies, that if you find yourself stuck or unhappy with a situation, DO something about it and don’t just complain. You might have already guessed it, but the above quote is actually where the name of this blog originated from.
This simple sentence inspired me to leave my super comfortable little world and quit my safe and well-paid but also boring job to go and see the world and actually risk something. Along the way, I learned many powerful lessons and had experiences I will cherish forever. I figured out what I want to do with my life – which was my intention when I left home at the end of 2017. But more importantly, I figured out so much about myself as well. I write about the big and small takeaways and how I implement them into my life on this blog.
If you are new to the site or simply want to know a bit more about me and my life so far, go on and read all about the story behind this blog.
Some fast facts:
I am: an optimist at heart, an introvert (INFJ), a restless soul, a wannabe photographer and a dessert lover
Favourite cities: Copenhagen (DK), Melbourne (AU), Paris (FR) and Cape Town (ZA)
Next on my bucket-list: Iceland, Morocco, Mexico, Croatia, Ireland, Cyprus, Cuba
Languages I speak: German, English, intermediate French, basic Danish, basic Spanish
Languages I’d like to learn next: Russian
Apart from travelling, I like reading, podcasts, cooking, being outdoors, playing tennis, learning new languages and spending time with friends and family. I am also interested in all things alternative, green and holistic like nutrition, Kundalini yoga, meditation, astrology, natural skin care, aromatherapy and essential oils.
Although this started out as a travel blog, it turned into more of a personal and lifestyle blog. Generally, I want to share my adventures and inspire you and others to live fully, explore the world and experience all of the different cultures and fascinating people in it.
